The Center for African Studies is offering grants of up to $400 each for graduate students who are giving Africa-related research presentations at conferences up to the end of January 2027 – including but not limited to the ASA, APSA, AAA and AHA annual meetings.
Funds must be spent on conference registration fees, travel costs, and accommodation (not on meals/subsistence).
Please apply as soon as possible: applications will be reviewed and approved on a rolling basis. The final deadline for applications is 5pm, September 30th, 2026.
Rules and eligibility
- Applicants must show proof of acceptance to present some aspect of their research at a conference panel or equivalent (not simply be attending the conference)
- The conference must take place before the end of January 2027
- Successful applicants must submit receipts/invoices for approved costs to the CAS office within 30 days of the conference.
