The Center for African Studies seeks Student Ambassadors to enhance African Studies at UF and support an inclusive, globally minded campus community at the University of Florida.

Ambassadors will play an active role in Center for African Studies’ undergraduate recruitment and outreach initiatives. Ambassadors will be assigned individual tasks and will work as a team to promote the Center for African Studies and its programs. Ambassadors will engage in class visits, information sessions, social media management, and assist with CAS events.

Our team of ambassadors is committed to enhancing the African Studies program at the University of Florida and promoting its diverse offerings. Our ambassadors are integral to the Center for African Studies’ recruitment and outreach initiatives. We believe that promoting diversity and inclusivity is crucial and want to do our part in supporting a globally-minded campus community.

Africa Eats: What a Room Full of Language Learners Proved This Spring

On April 17, Africa Eats served as a semester-ending showcase organized by John Muchira, Coordinator of the Center for African Studies African Language Program. This event brought together African language students, their friends, faculty, and language instructors for an afternoon of performance, food, and conversation.

Held at Plaza of the Americas on February 17th, the event transformed the space into a vibrant cultural atmosphere filled with interactive activities, performances, educational materials, and introductory African language conversations connecting attendees to the many traditions and languages represented across the continent.

This year’s theme, “From the Savannah to the Swamp: We Thrive Together,” emphasized the importance of maintaining cultural roots while building academic success at UF.
