SWAC/OECD Secretariat signs a memorandum of understanding w/UF
On 4 April, the SWAC/OECD Secretariat hosted the Sahel Research Group of the University of Florida to celebrate the new memorandum of understanding between the two organisations. Leonardo A. Villalón, Dean of the International Center and Co-ordinator of the Sahel Research Group at the University of Florida met with SWAC Secretariat Director Laurent Bossard to discuss the scope of planned activities in 2017-18.The visit began with a presentation by Olivier J. Walther from the University of Southern Denmark and co-author of the recent SWAC publication “Cross-border Co-operation and Policy Networks in West Africa”. His presentation illustrated how the many cross-border regions in West Africa could benefit from place-based policies that recognize and adapt to the specificities of each border area.
Dr. Walther will be joining UF in June as a Visiting Scholar through 2018. Welcome Olivier!
