Financial Information

Health Insurance

Enrollment is not automatic; students must enroll in GatorGradCare each academic  year.   

Students pay a $10 premium per month for health insurance.   

The online enrollment link and further information can be found here: http://hr.ufl.edu/benefits rewards/health/gatorgradcare/ Eligible students may enroll in GatorGradCare during the specified  enrollment periods only.   

Important Please note that if you are receiving insurance through another carrier, you must apply for a  waiver from the requirement to purchase insurance. This is possible if your current plan provides comparable coverage to the policy provided by our institutional plan (UFSHIP).

Transportation

Important Apps to enhance commuting.  

Lyft App: UF Safe Rides By Lyft offers currently-enrolled UF students discounted Lyft Standard rides Wednesday through Sunday between the hours of 9 PM – 3 AM (excepting break weeks). A ride must begin and end within the service area below to qualify for the discount.

First, to participate in UF Safe Rides, you’ll need to have a Lyft account. If you don’t have one yet, download the Lyft app and create your account.

If you’re a currently enrolled student, you’ll automatically receive a invitation email from Lyft at the beginning of each Fall semester which will allow you to sign up for UF Safe Rides. Once you receive your invitation email, just click the link inside to add the program discount to your Lyft account, and you’re all set.

GoRTS or Transit  Bus fares are free to all students just as long as you show your Gator 1 ID card when riding. 

GoRTS and Transit, free to download from the App/Play Store, provide real-time bus tracking and accurate information for trip planning. The apps identify buses by number, each serving various routes. By using these apps, you can easily find the right bus based on your location, exact stop if not nearby stop, as well as identifying destination.

  • Ward’s market for goat meat with burnt skin, liver, gizzard,nice turkey cuts etc.  
  • UF Animal unit sells meats of Fridays. If you want to eat meat that tastes like the one in your home country, you may want to visit this place. They sell beef, pork and lamb (on select days) 
  • La Aurora for garri, fufu flour, yam flour, lafun flour, tapioca, etc. Their habanero pepper is usually cheaper. 
  • Publix is the best place to buy habanero pepper.
