Dr. July Nelson earned her Master’s degree in 2017 from the Sustainable Development Practice program (MDP) at UF, specializing in Public Health Program Development and Evaluation. She then completed her Doctoral degree in Extension Education, focusing on Program Planning and Evaluation, from UF’s Department of Agricultural Education and Communication (AEC).
During her time as a Postdoctoral Associate in Team Science, Program Planning, and Evaluation at UF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), Dr. Nelson also made contributions to UF’s Department of Health Services Research, Management, and Policy.
She has taught various courses and delivered guest lectures to both undergraduate and graduate students across UF, including in the College of Public Health and Health Professions. Dr. Nelson’s student-centered approach and commitment to mentoring and curriculum development have earned her the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) teaching award.
In addition to her teaching, Dr. Nelson has conducted public health-focused research locally and internationally. She is dedicated to serving at the Department, College, and University levels, driven by a belief in collective success and growth. Currently, she serves as the Social Connection Chair for the University of Florida’s Postdoctoral Association (UFPDA).
