Tuko Pamoja!

New Directions in African Studies

Tuko Pamoja! This Swahili phrase, meaning “we are together,” reflects our mission at the Center for African Studies. While exploring new directions in African studies, we remain dedicated to supporting and promoting teaching, research, and scholarship about Africa. This page is a celebration of the modern Africa we engage with daily.

Whether through groundbreaking research or showcasing our students’ accomplishments, these stories highlight Africa’s vibrancy and its response to pressing global challenges. But we can’t do this work alone. Tuko Pamoja reminds us that meaningful progress happens together. Your support enables us to influence global conversations about Africa and work with the next generation of leaders.

– Dr. Miles Larmer, CAS Director
