On April 12th, 2021, the Institutions and the State in Africa Working Group, hosted Dr. Margaret Ariotti, Assistant Professor in the Department of International Affairs, University of Georgia. Her talk was based on her forthcoming book project. This session focused on one chapter from her book with the topic titled: Beyond the Big Man: Executive-Legislative Politics in African Democracies. Dr. Ariotti utilized an original dataset of African governments from 1990-2015 to analyze the complexity of legislative bargaining power that affects the type of government that develops in African nations.
