Recap: Graduate / Transfer Student Fair

The visitors spent the morning at Pugh Hall participating in a Graduate and Transfer Student Information & Recruitment Fair. For the afternoon, they proceeded to the Harn Museum for a gallery tour and dedicated language learning sessions. The students were divided into groups of 5 to work with each one of the African Language instructors on the basics of your language and any topical/thematic knowledge you wish to impart. To make things simple we planned your 50 minute language learning session around areas of interest and expertise. This was an opportunity for students to learn about and through African Studies and connect with the many African Studies experts on campus. The Harn has made one classroom space available.

Friday’s event is part of CAS US Department of Education outreach for minority serving  institutions with the goal of sharing expertise in African Studies, exposing students to diverse perspectives on Africa and promoting knowledge of Africa for students in multiple career paths. The event is a prelude to the SEAN/SERSAS African Studies Conference cohosted by UF and UNC to be held on Saturday March 26 at Pugh Hall. We also welcome your attendance at SEAN/SERSAS. In addition to faculty presentations, TU and UF students in African and African American Studies will present their research on Saturday.
