The Center is proud to host a rich, diverse academic environment for the study of Africa. Although the Center does not currently offer a graduate degree in African studies, it is possible to pursue graduate study of Africa in a wide variety of disciplines at the University of Florida. Coursework in African Studies
Take a look at our course offerings to consider experiencing African Studies through a wide variety of academic perspectives on topics such as development, politics, health, environmental conservation, economics, religion, gender, and culture. Students can also pursue either a Minor or a Certificate in African Studies, at both the Masters and Doctoral levels.

Masters of Sustainable Development Practice

Funding Opportunities for Graduate Students
Graduate students pursuing training in African languages at UF are encouraged to apply for Foreign Language and Areas Studies (FLAS) Fellowships offered through the Center. Additional research and travel awards are also available for students.
