African language courses are taught by professional, experienced, and dedicated instructors in small and friendly classes that enable them to pay attention to every student and their specific needs. The instructional staff is composed of permanent faculty as well as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) whose teaching assistantship is partly supported by a Title VI grant from the US Department of Education.
The integrated pedagogical approach (communicative + learner-centered + content-based approaches) which informs the learning and teaching of African languages at UF, provides the basics and/or enhances students’ knowledge in other African-related UF courses  such as: Languages of Africa, The African Experience, African Humanities, African Languages & Worldview, African Business Culture, Methods in Language Documentation, African Oral Literature, Yoruba Oral Literature, Swahili Oral Literature, Readings in Swahili Literature, African Film & Media, African Cultures & Literatures, African Women Writers, Childhood in African Literature & Cinema, etc.
