Call for Participation at the Harn Museum

Museum Nights: Arts Across Africa

On February 13, the Harn Museum will host its annual Museum Nights: Arts Across Africa event. Museum Nights is a free public program with a large attendance from 6 to 9 pm. The Museum Night celebrates African culture with art, music, dance, and most importantly…you

We are looking for students to connect their areas of research, personal perspectives, or connections to Africa. Museum guests may move throughout the museum, engaging with themes of migration in its many forms—physical movement, the spread of knowledge and ideas, transformations, and reconceptualization. At various “stops” in the gallery, we want to have 6 students give casual 6–8 minute mini-talks about their work, identity, areas of research, and how these relate to the African art on display at the Harn. By explaining your connection to Africa, guests will be able to engage deeply with the theme of African culture while we highlight the great work you’re doing!

Of course, you may use other objects that you find in the museum if they are related to your research or you would like to talk about them! We invite you to explore the museum in person, as this is only a sample of the works that could make connections.
