Chioma Iyamu is from Nigeria and pursued her undergraduate degree in Accounting at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. She recently completed a master’s degree in Sustainable Development Practice, with a minor in Soil Science and certification in Environmental Education and Communication. Chioma’s interest in the MDP program stems from its interdisciplinary approach, allowing her to explore and learn from other fields of study, and providing a holistic skill set for development practice.
Throughout her studies, Chioma has formed lasting friendships and considers Gainesville as her second home. She expresses gratitude to the MDP faculty and staff, as well as the Center for African Studies, for their unwavering support and guidance. She has come to realize that with patience and hard work, one can achieve anything they set their mind to.
Chioma has also served as a graduate assistant at the Center for African Studies, where she worked as the outreach coordinator for K-12 schools in Gainesville. Additionally, she organized and participated in CAS events both within and outside the University, allowing her to build a network of friendships with teachers, students, and the wider Gainesville community. She is excited to continue working with students, helping them reach their full potential and making a positive impact on the world.
