The Sahel Research Group is pleased to announce that our long-anticipated visitor, Azizou Garba, has arrived!  Azizou is Associate Director of the Centre Nationale D’Etudes Strategiques et de Securité (CNESS) in Niger.  He has extensive experience in Niger and in the Sahel more broadly on issues of security, political development, and much more.   Azizou will be here through the end of October, and he has kindly agreed to help us kick off our new and revived “Sahel Seminar” meetings by leading a series of discussions on topics related to security in the Sahel.

NOTE: Azizou will be in NYC for the UN General Assembly meeting the previous week, accompanying the delegation led by Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum, and in conjunction with Niger’s current seat as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.   Azizou will update us on the meeting and discussions.
