Rebecca Nagy

Rebecca Nagy directed UF’s Harn Museum of Art from 2002-2018. She was an affiliate faculty member in the College of the Arts and the Center for African Studies.

Prior to her appointment as director of the Harn, Nagy spent 17 years at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, where she was curator of African art and associate director of education. She was an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Nagy received her doctorate in art history from UNC, Chapel Hill. She has served as a Trustee of the Association of Art Museum Directors, President of the Florida Art Museum Directors Association, and as a board member of the Florida Association of Museums, the Arts Council of the African Studies Association, the Matheson History Museum, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Gainesville Women’s Forum, and the Rotary Club of Gainesville.
